July 21, 2022 Dear Parents/Guardians: The past four years Parker Unified was able to give our students free meals as we qualified for the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) of the National School Lunch Program. Unfortunately, we were notified in June that Parker Unified no longer qualified for the CEP and that we would have to go back to the way it used to be. This means our families will need to fill out the free/ reduced lunch application to determine if they qualify for free or reduced meals. Due to the short notice we were given, we are still working with our vendor on getting an online lunch application. In the mean time, I have included a link inside of this letter that will take you to a folder where you can download and print the lunch application. You can then fill out the information by hand and turn it into your child’s school or mail it directly to the lunch records clerk. Here is the link to the folder: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/11LwpY--_IGau5NizNiHyby02y9CXTba3?usp=sharing Inside of the folder you will find the following information: Household Letter. This gives a very good explanation of the prices and who may qualify for free or reduced meals Instructions for Application: gives you instructions on how to fill out the application Application 22-23: This is the application to see if you qualify for free or reduced price meals. Income eligibility Guidelines: These are the guidelines we use to determine who qualifies for free or reduced price meals. Consent Letter: This allows the information you provide in your application to be shared with our Title I program. We want all families to fill out an application whether you believe you will qualify for free or reduced meals or not. This information will be on the District’s website in the next couple of days. Visit www.parkerusd.org When we receive the link to an online version of the application, we will send the link out the same way as this letter. Please share this information with your friends and family who have children attending the Parker Unified School District. Respectfully, Brad Sale Superintendent

Dear Parents/Guardians: This letter is to inform you that Parker Unified School District was notified by the USDA and AZ Nutrition that we no longer qualify for the Community Eligibility Program. This was the program that gave our children free breakfast and lunch for the past four years. What does that mean for you as a parent/guardian? It means the application process to determine if your family qualifies for free or reduced breakfast and lunches will be reinstituted. As of now, we are working to get prices for those families that will have to pay full or reduced prices for meals. That information will be sent in a letter as soon as we know what the prices will be. This is not the news we were hoping for from the USDA. The application process will be very similar to the way it was prior to qualifying for the CEP program. We will work with our vendor we had previously to offer online applications and online payments. Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available to us.
