Allow me to introduce myself- My name is Jennifer Marlatt and I am pleased to work at the Parker Unified School District as one of the new school psychologists!
I recently completed my Educational Specialist degree in School Psychology from La Sierra University in Riverside, California. I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and my Master of Arts degree in Special Education, Moderate/Severe from the University of San Diego in San Diego, California. I taught special education in a Critical Skills Classroom for grades K-2 for approximately 3 years before deciding to continue my education in the field of Psychology. I received my Master of Arts degree in Clinical Psychology from Alliant International University in San Diego, California and am currently waiting to defend my dissertation to earn my Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Children and Families.
I have worked in several different schools, community mental health agencies and hospitals in California and have provided psychological services to children of all ages. My professional training has included instruction and supervision in the areas of mental health disorders including Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, Anxiety, Oppositional Defiant Disorder and Conduct Disorder, psychological assessment, child and adolescent psychotherapy, family therapy, group therapy, Mindfulness and school consultation. I conducted a research study evaluating a school-based mindfulness-based cognitive therapy program and its effectiveness in decreasing aggressive behaviors towards others (bullying) among 3rd-5th grade students.
I was born and raised in a small farming community in California where I enjoyed growing up on a farm, raising animals, driving tractors and having lots of open space to roam! I moved to San Diego, California in 1997 where I attended school and found my love for working with children. I remained in San Diego for 14+ years before relocating back to the desert after meeting my now husband, Lance and getting married. When I’m not in the thick of all things school psychology, I enjoy spending time with my husband and 3 stepchildren out in the jeep exploring some trail or in the boat cruising up and down the river!
I will be working at Wallace Jr. High School and Blake Primary School where I plan on jumping in full-force in getting to serve the teachers, parents and students there. Along with the tasks of conducting psycho-educational assessments, I will be participating in PBIS initiatives, individual/group counseling, behavioral/academic interventions, and anything else that will help all involved in our school community to be as happy and successful as possible. Please feel free to say hi or contact me any time that I can of service to you!
Warmly,

Jennifer Marlatt, Ed.S., M.A.
