In this activity you have been introduced to one of the most useful and supported theories. Understanding why the earth reacts the way it does helps scientist to make predictions and to prepare for the future. This is a great example of how science helps to clarify how our world works. It also shows how ideas from one man can create a scientific frenzy which eventually leads to all the answers. Continental Drift was the idea that led to the theory of Plate Tectonics and now we have a mechanism for volcanoes, geysers, earthquakes, mountain ranges, canyons, hot springs, and even ice ages. |
