Instructional Technologies |
|
Teachers use a variety of
technologies to provide opportunities
for students to strengthen their
intelligences in many different areas.
These technologies are an integral
component to lessons and projects that
move students to higher order thinking
skills.
Sometimes teachers hold back from using various technologies because they feel they do not have time to learn them and/or integrate them into regular lessons. Please feel free to contact Mrs. Leivas to assist in this area. She will be happy to discuss ways that she and/or her library staff can help you use technology to enhance student learning.
Listed below are some technologies with descriptions
and sample activities. Most learning activities involve
several of Gardner's 8 intelligences with some
intelligences having a more dominant role. The
intelligences listed here are the dominant, but not
necessarily the only intelligences used in the
activities.

WebQuests
Webquests were first developed by Bernie Dodge at
San Diego State University in 1995. Since then,
webquests have become a widely used teaching tool.
Webquests can be developed by teachers or students
and can be used for individual and
collaborative learning projects.
- These online learning quests often involve
all of the intelligences.
- Which intelligences are foremost depends on
the design of the quest.
-
DVDs or VHS tapes
At the present time, only a few of the PHS
computers have DVD burners. However, it is a
simple matter to get DVDs burned. Once your
students have created a project, notify Mrs.
Leivas at the library for assistance.
