About Blogs in the PHS Classroom:
Blogs, also known as web logs or online journals, can
be a powerful communication tool in the classroom.
However, it is important to note that student access and
content cannot be controlled if students set up their
own blogs or journals on non-school websites. One way to
avoid this problem is to have the teacher set up the
blog for students to use and protect it with a password. Please contact Mrs. Leivas if you would like any assistance with using blogs to enhance learning in your classroom.
Applications:
- Shared journals
- Discussion posts
- Teacher & Classroom info for parents and
students
- Post Poetry, artwork, other projects
Example:
Students
in Mrs. Leivas' Library Science participated in a
research project about the Japanese-American internment
camp located in Poston, Arizona. Blog entries were
a valuable reflection and communication tool for this
project.
Blog reflecting on
Japanese-American internment camp art.
