It was cold and windy for the state 3A golf meet May 10 and 11 in Snowflake. The two Parker Broncs who went played well despite the elements.
Brian Goldsberry shot a 93 for the first day and a 96 for the second day for a score of 189 over 36 holes. He placed 19th overall. Mitchell Newman shot an 86 for the first day, but then shot a 115 for the second day. He placed 38th overall.
Coach Bob Firlein said Newman had problems with winds of up to 50 mph on the second day.
The top 3A golfer was Kyle Jones of Snowflake, who shot a 149 for the two days. Snowflake was also the team champion for the state. Firlein said four of the top ten golfers were from Snowflake.
Firlein said it was a good season for the Broncs gold team.
"Our goal was to get some to state," he said. "We didn't go as a team, but two went."
Firlein said he expected a great season next year. Goldsberry will be graduating, but Newman will be returning, along with top players like Jordan Purser and Jeff McCormack, and rising young players like Rene Gallan.
In addition to Goldsberry, golfers Shelby Kracht and Andrew Jones are also graduating.
