1. Step one consist of surfing the web to find and author
and a specific poetic category that you are interested in. Here are some
sites to get you started. Don't forget to click on the resources page for
more. I would like a printed out sheet of at least 4 websites that you have
researched (10pts.). You might have to cut and paste onto word, then print it.
2. Your second step is to type and print a 1 1/2 page biography of the author that you chose. In one of your body paragraphs, you should include a literary analysis of one of his/her poems. If you need help on what the literary analysis should consist of, be sure to look under the task tab. (36pts.)
3. Your third step consists of you finding a favorite, or
few of your favorite poetic categories, and writing at least three poems
of your own using that specific style. Remember to use past authors for
examples. Here are some sites to help you get started. Use the task
tab for more information. (24 pts.) 4. Your final process in this WebQuest will consist of you getting up in front of your classmates and presenting the biography of the author that you chose, one of your poems that you wrote, and a verbal analysis of what you thought about the poet, this poetry WebQuest, your own poems, etc. Keep in mind that your eye contact and presentation of the material are crucial to captivating the audience (10pts.) 5. Extra credit will be worth 20 pts if you so choose to
do it. It will consist of a class poetry slam where students will compete
against each other with live judges (the teacher is not included.) More
information will be given at a later date.
