School Improvement Plan

 

     Arizona’s schools have recently been designated with one of four achievement labels.  From high to low, the labels are as follows: 1.) Excelling; 2.) Improving; 3.) Maintaining; and 4.) Underperforming.  Le Pera School received a Maintaining designation.  Under normal circumstances, Le Pera would not have to develop a School Improvement Plan. 

    However, since Le Pera receives Title I funding, our school is expected to show that our students are able to meet the Arizona Academic Standards.  Le Pera Elementary scores have been below the acceptable standards in the past and our school was already in School Improvement Status for Title I when the Arizona labels came out.  Because schools must show progress for two years in a row, Le Pera will remain in School Improvement for the current school year.

    Because Le Pera is in School Improvement, we are required to inform parents of the following information:  1.) Eligible students may transfer to another school in the district, subject to available space.  Transfers may be requested using Open Enrollment application forms; and 2.) Parker Unified School District will provide supplemental educational services to eligible students.   

    These services will include after school tutoring, intersession activities, and summer school.   Parents may also choose independent Supplemental Service providers from a state approved list and the district will pay such costs as are permitted by Title I. The faculty and staff of Le Pera Elementary see the improvement process as a challenge and an opportunity to provide the best education available to our children. 

    Our improvement process has begun with assistance from Charlotte Wing, a state approved “external facilitator”.   The links on the left side of this page will take you to our completed school improvement plan. We hope that you will join us in our efforts to improve our school and help our students meet the Arizona Academic Standards so that No Child Is Left Behind.
